Shell and Uhde Fertilizer Technology join forces on new sulphur-enhanced urea fertilizer technology

Shell and Uhde Fertilizer Technology (UFT) are pleased to announce their partnership to integrate UFT’s fluid bed granulation technology with Shell’s Urea-ES technology. This announcement comes after the two companies successfully granulated Shell-developed Urea-ES emulsion in UFT’s fluid bed granulation pilot plant in Leuna, Germany. For further information click Opens external link in new windowhere

UFT Highlights in 2015

During the last year UFT provided the following licenses:

  •  To Yara Belgium for a 1,626 mtpd Urea Granulation at Sluiskil, The Netherlands
  •  To NavoijAzot for a 1,750 mtpd Urea Granulation at Navoij, Uzbekistan

 

The following plants have been commissioned in 2015: 

  • SAFCO V with 3,600 mtpd in Saudi Arabia
  • AOFP with 2x 3,850 mtpd in Algeria
  • TAF with 2,050 mtpd in Russia
  • CFI Donaldsonville with 3,600 mtpd in the USA

Third UFT granulation in Turkmenistan

Mitsubishi Corporation (MC) and GAP Instaat Yatirim ve Dis Ticaret A.S. (GAP) have reached an agreement with the government of Turkmenistan for the construction of a large-scale fertilizer plant in Turkmenistan. The plant, to be constructed in Garabogaz, northwest of the country along the Caspian Sea, will be the largest urea fertilizer plant in the country, with contracts amounting to some 1.3 billion US dollars. The urea plant will have a production capacity of 3,500 ton per day. Uhde Fertilizer Technology will provide the technology as well as the license for the fluid bed granulation plant.

Borealis selected UFT granulation and Ammonia Convert Technology

The international Company Borealis plans to mexpand the prodution of its site in Granpuits, France. Borealis selected the UFT granulation incuding our proprietary Ammonia Convert Technology for a capacity of about 850 MTPD.

Agrium approves Borger plant expansion

In February 2014, the Agrium board approved an expansion project at its plant in Borger Texas, which is expected to cost approximately $720 million. Besides an increase in ammonia and urea synthesis capacity the project comprises of a 610,000 tonne per year urea granulation plant with UFT technology. Construction could begin in March 2014 with completion expected in the second half of 2015.

Dangote Group build Africa’s Biggest Fertilizer Plant in Nigeria

Dangote Group of Nigeria will build Africa’s biggest fertilizer plant in the country’s southern Edo state. The company signed an agreement with Saipem SpA’s Nigerian unit to build the plant, which will include two trains, each with the capacity for 3,850 metric tons per day of granulated urea. Uhde Fertilizer Technology will provide the technology as well as the license for both fluid bed granulation plants. Aliko Dangote, president of the Dangote Group announced that the plant will make Nigeria “self-sufficient in fertilizer production and even have the capacity to export”.
